Thankful Poem
by Jade Brown, Grade 4

Shoop Academy
Fall/2001

I’m thankful for my family because many people don’t’ have families.

I’m thankful for my home because many people don’t have homes. They have to live in shelters.

I’m thankful for the shoes on my feet and the clothes on my body because many people don’t have clothes. You have to donate money so they can have clothes.

I’m thankful for the school I’m in because some schools don’t do such a good and important job like mine. Many schools have shootups and gangbangers. Many schools aren’t safe.

I’m thankful for my friends because without them I wouldn’t be able to play with anyone.

I’m thankful for being able to come to Open Book with my friends and for being able to have a nice time.

I’m thankful for all the holidays because they help you learn to love one another. Amen for that

…Most of all I’m thankful for God! Without him you wouldn’t have anyone to pray to and ask to forgive you for all your sins. And you have someone to talk to when you’re down. Amen! He’s here…!
